This innovative filler is composed of Poly-D-L-lactic Acid (PDLLA), a biocompatible and biodegradable polymer that has been successfully used in medicine for over 20 years. PDLLA is a racemic variant of polylactic acid, distinguishing it from older PLLA (Poly-L-lactic acid) formulations. The microsphere-shaped design of PDLLA in AestheFill increases the contact surface, encouraging fibroblasts to adhere and activate Type I collagen production. This is a key difference from PLLA, where irregular surfaces could favor nodule formation and Type III collagen activation, making even distribution more challenging and application potentially more expensive.
AestheFill works by injecting the PDLLA solution into target areas where volume loss and wrinkles are visible. The porous structure of the AestheFill molecules ensures optimal collagenogenesis, with fibroblasts working both inside and outside the microspheres. As the product enters the skin, it immediately begins to fill voids caused by aging and loss of structural proteins. Over time, the PDLLA gradually breaks down into lactic acid and glycogen through hydrolysis, and then is naturally excreted from the body as water and carbon dioxide.
